DNG_1717 - Version 2

Saxophone is such a fun instrument to play!  I recommend beginners play alto saxophone, but if you already have a different one, we can work with that.  Starting on clarinet for a few years and then switching to saxophone or playing saxophone in jazz band is another option that works well and often results in a more stable embouchure.

A saxophone can usually be purchased used at a music store or from someone who is no longer playing.  An older instrument that is in good repair is often a very good deal if it works well.  I would be happy to look at or play a saxophone you are considering buying to test it.  Please beware of saxophones made in China offered for very good prices over the internet.  Often these do not play in tune with themselves and are problematic to play in band.  If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.  A few excellent brands include:  King, Conn, Selmer, Bundy, Holton, Jupiter, Martin, Yamaha, Yanagasawa, and some others.
